Let’s Chat About Vineyards

From Vine to Glass

Vineyards – seems like a pretty straightforward system. You plant the vines, you watch them grow, you pick the fruit, you prune and then you do it all over again year after year.

But as always with these editions, there’s always so much more to it! Like any plant that you grow, vines and the grapes produced on them will always be different throughout Australia and the world, making each wine as unique as the next. This can come down to variables such as variety, climate, soil type, vineyard practices and how each site is managed throughout the year and so on.

Within Australia alone there are thousands of different grape varieties grown here.
By simple definition, a variety is derived directly or indirectly from a single seedling. These new plants are propagated from cuttings or grafts from that original mother plant which will lead you down the avenue of clones and things like that. It’s a super intricate world of vines, varieties and their offerings, even when you take a cutting from the mother plant and start again, nature will still do its best to surprise you each time and she always succeeds

Cheers to that!
