As its name suggests, this vast wine region stretches for 150 Km inland from the southern coastal towns of Denmark and Albany. So, vast that it comprises five separate sub regions: Albany; Denmark; Frankland River; Mount Barker; and Porongurup. The region has 2,300 ha under vine and is known for its cool climate wines. Prominent white styles include Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Merlot are the best examples of reds produced in the region.
